trū Chitosan
Chitosan (KY-tuh-sin) is a biopolymer produced from the exoskeletons of shrimp and crustaceans, which would be otherwise discarded. A product of The trū Shrimp Companies, our chitosan is made from a controlled shrimp production process, enabled by our breakthrough Tidal Basin® indoor aquaculture technology.
It’s trū: We take pride in meeting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements and conforming to standards set forth by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP).

Quality
Our products are synthesized in a FDA-registered facility and adhere to strict, prescribed testing methodologies to ensure a high-quality final product.

Versatility
We produce high-quality chitosan for use within many growing categories and market segments (flocculants, bioplastics, hemostats, excipients, moisturizers, etc.).

Sustainability
The upstream shrimp aquaculture processes that create our chitosan-rich shrimp exoskeletons have been recognized by multiple preeminent sustainability organizations.
